At its heart, Pitch Hack is a single delay line with transposition control in both semitones and cents. Besides pitching the incoming signal in real time, Pitch Hack can reverse the audio, randomize the transposition interval and fold the delayed signal back into the delay line.
Electronic music producer Mormo wanted a specific sound. Mixvibes vfx crack. He took matters into his own hands and used Max for Live to make it happen in a day.
The 'record stop' sound - caused by a vinyl record slowing down after the turntable's motor is stopped - is a classic effect used by DJs and turntabilist. Glitch-hop producer Mormo took matters into his own hands and created the Pitch Drop device.
After familiarizing himself with Max for Live, Mormo worked for a single day on his first Max for Live creation. The result is the wonderfully simple Pitch Drop device, which takes incoming audio and slows it down at an adjustable rate.
Using Pitch Drop
Music effects with dj prodecks. Pitch Drop has only two controls:
- the Drop Duration knob sets how long it takes for the pitch (and thus speed) to drop to zero after Drop Activate is pressed
- the Drop Activate button enables the pitch drop effect. Pressing it again resumes normal audio
I'm looking for a way to move pitches in a melody and was wondering which plugin is the best for that (while performing), in ableton? Also, I noticed that every clip has a 'Frequency' knob that can be used, but only after and while its been recorded and, most importantly.. selected!
I think that building a 'Frequency' or 'Pitch' device with Max for Live would be really simple.. But isn't there an Ableton Live device that simply features that (and would save me the $)? I can't find it! Or I can't figure those 'Frequency Shift' ones to use them for that purpose..
Is Discord 2 the only way and the cheapest, so far, to shift pitches around, while in performance?
Thanks for the help!
