The software is totally usable as is, with no limitations like master level fades, time limits, or updating constraints, and is completely free for non-commercial use.

It has two decks, three effects, beatmatched looping, iTunes integration with cover support and user-definable smart playlists, history function, multiple audio format support, cue point triggers, three-band EQ, equalisers and keylocking.

It is comparable to a product like Virtual DJ Home, in that there is no Midi or timecode – it’s strictly aimed at laptop-only DJs. However, whereas Virtual DJ Home is pretty much the full version of the program, Cross DJ Free is cut-down, lacking many of the functions of the full version, such as full effects and the ability to record your mixes.
